My left leg is 15mm longer than the other and this is a real pain when it comes to running. Are there any shoe manufacturers who can add something to the sole?
I have tried those inserts, they are not good and the ankle destroys the inner part of the shoe near the achilles.
I have one leg longer than the other, help?!?
You can see a podiatrist or specialty stores that deals with competitive shoes and they would be better to help you and offer any solutions. Also your coach should be able to gear your workout and running technique to better helpYou can still be a good runner hence Michael Johnson in his day, ever notice his runing style quite awkward but effective once he knew how to deal with it, also Donvan Bailey had the same problem, but these 2 were Olympic champs and world record holders.

Reply:There are specialist companies that build up the inside of a trainer to suit each individual. I am not sure where you live - There is specialist trainer shop that do this in Bristol on St Michael's Hill but that could be miles from you so not helpful! Speak to fitness shops in your area - specialist ones - don't bother with JJB - they won't have a clue.
Reply:Ask your GP to refer you to the Surgical Appliances Department at your local Hospital. They have people who specialise in this area. They can arrange for alterations to be made to your footwear and in some cases footwear made.
Reply:The pain from a leg length discrepancy is most commonly experienced from long distance running or biking. Non-athletes tend to notice it after carrying heavy loads in one hand. The pain can occur at the end of the activity or the next morning, with accompanying stiffness.
The most common treatment is to try heel lifts for the shorter side, but you mentioned that this does not help. Also, since this is largely a pronation problem, over-the-counter arch supports often help, but they must be changed often, about every six months or so. Sometimes, people get flare-ups or injuries because their heels wear out.
Stretching exercises should also help to reduce your pain when you are running.
Here's a little bit of trivia that may interest you if you don't already know: approximately 85% of the world's population exhibits a leg length discrepancy, and two-thirds of them experience pain related to it at some time in their lives. Many people go through their lives not realizing the discrepancy because they simply do not run or bike long enough to experience difficulties resulting from the condition.
Good luck finding the right solution.
Reply:of course. or maybe the local shoemaker can do something with your shoe.
