I'm in the nutcracker for my dance school this year and i need to dye my pointe shoes. for one of my solo parts one of the shoes has to be pink and the other purple. should i use fabric marker? or should i even use any marker at all? i also have to dye another pair black, and i have no idea how to do that. PLEASE HELP!
How to dye pointe shoes??????
Go to a place that sells wedding dresses they die shoes and it's not that expensive
Reply:a crafts store if you dont feel like spending money
also dry cleaners or clothing helpers or w.e can do it
Reply:i would use fabric dye but not the kind that u have to soak stuff in because i think it may ruin them.
u could paint the dye on or even use food dye if you only need them for one performance. as for the black ones just buy black pointes i think. you can get them some places. try gooling it.
Reply:I have just gone through hell with this, DO NOT USE DYLON DYE - it ruined my pointe shoes and I had to get a new pair. It also didn't seem to even take on my Freed Studios at all. If you need to dye them black I would highly recommend black liquid shoe polish, I did mine with these in seconds and they came out fantastic.
I have got pictures if you want to see them.
I don't recommend black sharpies or permanent marker as they made mine go more dark blue than black, also got a picture of this next to my black pointe shoes if you want it.

Reply:hang the shoes somewhere well ventilated and use regular joe schmoe spray paint! i've always used this, and its never streaked or shrunk my shoes. it works really well in the garage. do one layer, allow it to dry, then do another layer, allow it to dry. your ribbons might get kinda, shall we say, crispy, so if you can find purple ribbon that matches, you may want to attach them sepearetly, but its also fine if you dont.
Reply:you could try dylon dye. they have instructions for dyeing shoes.
