Is it worth trying to start living again, if so how?

I have an MA in math and i doing a phd. dont get me wrong, i love math, it is all i have ever done.... but i am tired of my low pay, my low station in life.; this is kinda strange coz i used to live an extremely lower class lifestyle, eating little, eating cheap haviung torn shoes has always been part of my life. all of a sudden, all this poverty and squalor seems so demeaning, i want my life to end; my desire to live is only physical now; i.e. i still pull my hands away from the fire, but i will keep hoping that the fire is big enough.

Is it worth trying to start living again, if so how?
you just need a change. Apply for a teaching job or at a doctorate level if math is your thing, or get involved in working with space or earthquakes studies or statistics or apply at some large aeronautics firm.
Reply:just pray about it and i think u should be thankful to God for every breath He has giving you ,because if He wanted to He could easily take your life.if you are not a christian you need to start thinking .
Reply:u didn't really stop living, u were living a different way, if u are tired of it, then change the way u live, change it in such a way that u are happier with what u are doing...
Reply:I have know phd's.. and I would label all of them as Poor Hapless Dumb a**es and here is why.. all of them seem to think that because they have a phd in something they should be put on a pedistal.. while they make work for a company, they seem to have the attitude that they shouldn't have to work.. they all say I am not going to go out and sell magazine ads.. I have a phd.. wow what a fool.. life is not about having a big diploma.. it is about have applying what you know to a useful purpose... If you can't do that, then you have no life..all you have is an education... Most math teachers in high school have been hired by companies in industries that require the applications of math to a product... okay so you will have a phd in math.. I think thats great.. but what are you going to do with it?.. find a way to apply it to a product.. go buy a new pair of shoes and some new clothes.. if money is a problem.. go to goodwill, and I am not being facetious here, at goodwill will find some great clothes and shoes for just a little money..outfit yourself with new nice duds.. no one but you will ever know that they came from a resale shop.. dress youself better and you will start to think better of yourself.. you deserve a good life.. but you have to be the one who builds it.. it won't happen over nite.. but it can happen in a short time if you take the right steps.. remember the way to eat an elephant is ONE BITE AT A TIME.. get some new duds.. you will look better and feel better.. and it will give you an idea as to what the next step (or bite) should be.. a journey begins with the first step.. take one.. good luck
Reply:You sound like one of those 'Starving Artists'. Are you working on anything exciting?
Reply:Maybe it's my years as a psych nurse, but if someone came into our hospital and gave the same history, we'd admit them and assign you a doctor. That's not a put down in any way. It hurt me to hear of someone like you being so pessimistic about their lives. If you want, would you think of seeing someone to talk over your problems? Could be you have just gotten tired of living in the lower class society and want more.

There's nothing wrong with that. Maybe you need to find out how to change your life. It's worth a try. I'd hate to think of someone like you giving up. I actually hate it when anyone gives up.
