Married women............................

Am I by myself on this? My hubby is worlds worse to want to keep junk and we are running out of closet space, drawer space, storage unit space etc. He wants to keep stupid stuff like old stinky shoes. That's just part of it. I don't know how to break him from it. Any advice?

if he won't stop, encourage his habit as you encourage him to keep (and pay for) a storage unit for it all. The house is both of yours, and the storage is totally his. Even offer to help box it for him.
Reply:get rid of it when he's not home...slowly and he wont' even notice!
Reply:YEAH, HERE'S SOME USEFULL ADVISE: (I'VE HAD TO DO THIS MANY A TIME)

TAKE A DAY OR 2 OFF WORK AND JUST PITCH IT! HE'LL BE PISSED, BUT HE'LL GET OVER IT.
Reply:My husband was the same way. I would throw one thing away a week and he never knew they were missing. I eventually told him what I did and he was not mad at all for it.
Reply:Dr. Phil
Reply:He's gotten surprisingly better about it over the years. Our garage is halfway clean.. that's a tremendous improvement.
Reply:my husband is the same. I let him keep stuff and then when hes at work a month or more later, I throw it out. 90% of the time he's already forgotten about it by then.
Reply:Is this the only problem you have with him??? Just live with it but grab the shoes when he's not looking and throw them in the garbage.
Reply:Really I don't have that problem cause I just throw the stuff away. LOL
Reply:I'm actually the pack rat in my marriage. My husband and I decided to move to a smaller place so during the holidays when we had some time off he had me grow through my things and I realized that I had receipts from 1993. I think if you can get him to look through his things he'll realize on his own that he doesn't need them.
Reply:yup. I have this problem too. In fact yesterday I filled up a garbage bag of useless papers that he "thinks" he needs. I just throw his stuff out. Sometimes he notices, sometimes he doesn't. By the time he realizes (if he does) it's long gone. It's always a fight, but I rather deal with that than living with all the junk!
