Operation Christmas Child, What to put in?

this year i am taking part in the 'shoe box appeal' but i havnt got a clue what to put in the shoe box, i am only 15 and havnt got allot of money to spend. i know that you can't put in food, medicines, war things (toy guns etc), fragile items and anything else not suitable for a child.

i think i am going to do my box for boy aged 10 -14.

Any suggestions? thanks

Operation Christmas Child, What to put in?
Maybe a small favorite book?
Reply:Never heard of it!
Reply:Um as for specific items, I'm not really sure. I'm a girl and also the youngest of my family and I don't remember how my brother was at that age because he's 8 years older.

But as for places to get stuff, granted you may not have these stores in your area but I'll throw them at you anyway...Dollar Tree (where everything is $1.00), Dollar General, Family Dollar, Wal-mart (might have cheap little things), somewhere were you can get stuff at a cheaper rate.

As for the stuff...maybe try burning CDs. Get paper, pen, cool boy stuff. Ask your friends too!

By the way, I commend you on doing this. Not many people our age would do something like that. (I'm 17 and I'm in clubs that do that at Christmas time and my mom %26amp; I try to do that too).
Reply:-Paper and pencils are really appreciated as they don't really have access to them in poor countries

-A cuddly toy e.g. a bear or something

-Soap- make sure it isn't liquid as you can't put anything liquid in incase it leaks

-Toothbrush- I'm not sure if you're allowed to put toothpaste in you'd better check

-I'm fairly sure you can give some sweets that won't spoil e.g. chewits, jellies.

-Colouring in book

-Little toys e.g. McDonalds toys if you have any lying around

-Go through your old toyboxes and see if you have anything

-Mini jigsaw puzzle

-Games e.g. travel chess or something

-Socks, gloves, scarf etc. and a t-shirt if it will fit

-Also have a look on their website and see if they have any suggestions. I'm not sure on the adress but I'm sure you'll find it through Google.

Anyway good luck, it's a really nice thing to do and I guarantee you'll feel really good about yourself afterwards!

And by the way, if you don't have a shoebox or paper to wrap it in, take it to a school/ church/ group who are doing it, and they can wrap the toys for you and send it away for you. I know my school did that anyway.

Some people have mentioned video games and DVD's; If they can't afford to buy little things like pencils I'm sure they can't afford a playstation or a TV! So I wouldn't bother with things like that, and what's more they're expensive.
Reply:Video games!! My son is 13, and if you get him a video game he completely ignores anything else that he's gotten for Christmas!!
