Am I still a vegan if I used leather?

yesturday i found out part of my shoes is lether not the whole thing just these small stripes are lether.. i been vegan 2 years and worked so hard on it now i don't know if i have to start all over or what and i feel so bad now oh that poor cow had to die just for my shoes. i put the shoes away never to wear it again and wont ever buy lether again i promise.

Am I still a vegan if I used leather?
YOU ARE A MONSTER, you should be ashamed.
Reply:It's an accident, it's okay. Sometimes, when it happens it happens. I know I sometimes I accidentally eat meat, but doesn't mean I say "Well, I have been vegetarian for a week now"

I try hard to not get leather stuff, but I'm still not 100% about my sneakers.
Reply:Yo didn't eat your shoes did you???
Reply:To be a vegan is to not exploit animals for your own use. Since you did that accidentally, I'd say it's the same as stepping on an ant as you walk down a path. Not immoral, but perhaps you could try harder to prevent it in the future. If I did that, I'd sell the shoes and give the money to an animal rights charity or just give them to an animal charity, I'd feel a lot better after that.
Reply:There is no sense in beating yourself up over a mistake. Use it as a learning experience instead, and remind yourself to check more carefully next time. Since the money is already spent, the damage is already done. If you feel comfortable wearing them until they wear out, the vegan police will not swear out a warrant against you! But if you aren't going to wear them again, donate them to Goodwill or something so someone can make use of them.
Reply:ur still a vegan u wouldnt be a vegan if u new that it was leather
Reply:Please donate the shoes to goodwill if you are not going to wear them. Being vegan is no excuse for being wasteful.
Reply:You didn't eat the leather shoes did you?

yes, you are still a vegan.
Reply:I wouldn't sweat it- I think I've owned more leather as a vegetarian turned vegan than most non-veg- I recently gave up the addiction but I still haven't torn out neither of my cars' interiors yet.

Go to veganessentials.com or mooshoes.com and alternativeoutfitters.com and you'll find lots of vegan clothing/accessories/footwear without any thought put towards it.
Reply:You're still vegan.

I think if you only did it once, and it was an accident, then it's fine.

If you had known the shoes were leather and bought them anyways, I would consider you stupid.

But you're fine, just be more careful in the future.
Reply:You are still vegan because you had no idea that the shoes were made of leather; all you can do is return the shoes or just not wear them. I'm a veggie and I wear leather when necessary, such as shoes because I cannot find non leather shoes for my size feet (I_I) so........................

What ever you decide to do, wouldn't change your perspective about animal rights; I hope you find a decision that doesn't invlove you stop becomming a vegan.

Reply:it was mistake you did not mean to buy leather. If you feel really guilty do some charity work at a local animal shelter.

These are your choices, there is no vegan police and next time just read the lable a bit better.

you will be fine.

good luck on being vegan! - Thank you for being vegan!
Reply:Yes. But now you're a flexitarian vegan.
Reply:Listen, you are still a vegan. You already own the shoes, it is not like you went out and intentionally bought leather shoes. Just the fact that you are concerned about this says a lot about you. You are a good person and you shouldn't let this reflect on your position as a vegan. If you want to wear those shoes, you can wear them. It is not going to contribute to any further suffering.

Also, don't let these hatemongers get to you. They always find something negative to say about vegans because deep down inside they know we are right and they are wrong. They lash out at vegans just to hide their own guilt.
