Converse? how to soften them?

hey everyone

so, i got this pair of converse-like shoes (they're not really this brand)... they look something like this

http://www.nicekicks.com/images/jackass-...

but the problem is that the white plastic part in the front of the shoe, u know, where my toes go, is reaaaally tough. i mean rock hard :(

and my toes tend to get real achy, although the shoe size is right (they're not too small or anything), but whenever the tips of my toes touch the white plastic it's ... ouch!

pleaaaaase help! how can i soften them?

Converse? how to soften them?
Whenever I purchase Converse shoes I get a half size bigger because I was experiencing the same exact problem. I remember years ago when I purchased a pair of K-Swiss shoes they were so uncomfortable. I tried a half size bigger and still that didn't help. It's something about those K-Swiss shoes I tell ya. But I know from experience that buying a half size bigger shoes with the converse helps. Well it helped me. Also, you can try to put a small cushion at the toe part of your shoe to stop it from rubbing up against the front. Cushions usually help as well.
Reply:i think you just haven't broken in the shoes yet. give it some time and maybe try thicker socks. i have a couple pairs of chucks and they just take a while to get used to and then they will be the most comfortable shoes you have ever worn, trust me!!!!
Reply:The only thing I can say is wear them out =S

Sorry though =]

PS. WOW! They're great =D
Reply:I think the only thing you can do is just wear them in! Mine are the same.

Has anyone else noticed that the newer converse seem to be narrower %26amp; the front bit is a lot tougher??
Reply:You have to wear them few times. Try also inserting a wet (not too wet) cloth for few hours. Or wash it in delicates with only softener.
Reply:I had a pair of converse for two years. After the first year I had them, they were very comfortable. It takes a while to make them soft but when you do, they are very comfy. By the way, cute shoes!
