Is it okay for my puppy to chew an old cell phone?

So my puppy stole my phone yesterday (which I def. don't want her chewing on) so I gave haer an old cell phone I sanitized. It's a silver flip phone and I screwed the anttena off so there are no small parts. Is this okay? And also she likes to chew on old shoes, shoe strings, phone books, receipts and boxes (gets them on her head and runs around inot things). Are these also okay?

Is it okay for my puppy to chew an old cell phone?
no...you don't want him eating any part of the cell phone by accident. especially the wires and the batteries that are INSIDE the phone.

and that other stuff isn't that great also...and plus you're teaching her that it's ok to chew on those stuff in the long run.

for example, the shoe. it wouldn't be fair for your dog to recognize an old, moldy sneaker from a brand new spankin' puma right? a shoe is a shoe.

your dog will probably get used to chewing on anything it pleases...so once it starts chewing on one of your valuable stuff...you won't be very happy. and if you punish her, she'll only be more confused, because you let her get away with it in the first place, and the habit will be harder to break.

just discourage this behavior. when you catch her chewing on something that isn't one of her toys, say "NO" in a very loud voice and replace what she's currently chewing on with one of her toys.

teaching her the "off" command would be useful also. you can google that.

get her a kong instead. she'll love that.

(you stuff treats inside it...when the dog chews on it, it comes out. rewards her for chewing on that toy...and not your feet or something.)
Reply:Get her chew toys

it would be alot safer
Reply:No!

Give her a dog chew toy instead. Cell phones have batteries and are FILLED with small parts once broken open.
Reply:Never let a dog chew on anything thats not made for chewing . your dog could get a sharp piece off and tear up their insides or choke them and or kill them.

Be A responsible dog owner and take control and keep non chewable stuff away and train your puppy not to chew on other then approved toys.
Reply:None of those things are okay. They are potentially deadly to dogs. Get your puppy chew toys, or some new socks (my dog loves the ones I knit)
Reply:cellphones contain electronics that are made from materials that are poison to everything. minerals and metals and semiconductors. the other risk would be swallowing the sharp connectors and pins and nomenclature the phone contains that can rip apart intestines and make your dog bleed internally and die.
Reply:Not a good idea you have just give her permission to chew phones and its dangerous she could swallow some parts .Hope you have plenty of money available for the operation she will need if this courses a blockage
Reply:no! a shard of metal or plactic can tear up his little insides! buy him toys and get that away from him!!!
Reply:I would take away the cell phone. There may not be any small external parts but if she cracks it open, the pieces inside or the pieces that break off could cause damage. I would also keep her away from shoe strings. If she swallows it, it could end up causing twisted intestines which could lead to emergency surgery or death. The other things sound destructive but basically harmless. You must keep the box on the head. That is hilarious!!
Reply:No a puppy or dog should not be chewing any types of phones, phone books or anything that could be dangerous to a dog or puppy. The cell phone can still shock the dog or hurt the dog really badly. You need to make your house dog proof and puppy proof.

Reply:Absolutely not. Please do not give your dog anything besides chew toys. Why in the world would you let her chew on a cell phone? Would you let a baby chew on it? Would you let a baby put phone books, receipts, and boxes in their mouth? It can be very dangerous, sanitized or not. Please take them away and give her proper chew toys. There are chew toys for a reason.
Reply:a phone can kill her! it has a battery and cords that can electricute her! dont give her some of the other things either she can chock on them and also die. if you ate a cel phone would you live . think about that and decide what is best for her.
Reply:Well, if you let her chew on the OLD cell phone, remember that you have NO reason to be mad at her when she chews on the NEW cell phone again, because she can't tell the difference between "old" and "new".

That goes for your shoes, your shoe strings, your phone books, your receipts, and your boxes.

And no, it's not okay to let her chew on electronics, because it's not meant to be a dog chew toy. She will crack the plastic casing, swallow pieces (requiring an expensive trip to the vet), and get into the interior electronics (also requiring an expensive trip to the vet. There are lots of little pieces inside a cell phone - there's not some 'genie' in there that makes it work!).
Reply:If you don't want her chewing on your new cell phone, why would you give her your old one? Do you really think she knows the difference?

Supervise your pup, give her Kongs, Busy Buddies, Nylabones - you know, dog toys! - to chew on, and crate her when you can't watch her so she doesn't chew on off-limits items.
Reply:they have big chew toys like ropes and bones and rubber animals make noise just go pets shop they would be safer
Reply:As long as you`ve disabled international calls.

If not your screwed !!
Reply:ABOSLUTELY NOT! the cell phone probably has chemicals inside that could seriously hurt her. Also you dont want her thinking she can just chew on anything you need to tell her no and take the stuff away from her. Go to the store and get her rawhide bones and toys to chew on. Or if ya cant afford get her some old stuffed animals. They might be messy but you need to teah her she cant just chew on anything. When you see her chewing on things shes not supposed to tell her NO (sternly) and give her one of her chew toys that she can chew on. Eventually she will learn not to chew on things other then her toys. but you have to stick with it til she is out of that stage. Otherwise as a big dog she is going to chew you out of house and home litterally.
Reply:No, absolutely don't allow your dog to chew on the old cell phone. There are things in the components that could be dangerous. Plus, it teaches her that it's OK to chew on things such as the remote, or your current cell phone, since that behavior will generalize to other electronic gadgets. The same applies to old shoes - how will you react when she chews your new ones? Buy her appropriate chew toys, such as Kongs, and teach her to chew on those, but not on shoes, books, electronics ,etc. - only on those things you give her permission.
Reply:everything is ok exept the phone lmao
