Help! (Girls responses only please) 'I'm a crossdresser, what do I wear for my first ever job interview?

I've been crossdressing secretly for a number of years, but recently have realised/accepted that this is how I want to start being accepted in public.

I recently submitted my CV for a part-time/weekend job in a shoe shop in London, never expecting to be asked for an interview, but the company is question has asked me to attend one! I want to be open from the start and explain to them that ths is who I want to be. I dont want to attend looking ridiculous like some drag queen, but rather just an understated femme look, so they realise. I'm not confident enough or think its appropriate to wear a skirt and tights (yet), but I'm strugging for an outfit and I was thinking on just smart bootleg trousers, a two-in-one shirt and simple ballet flats, but am undecided? I'm just so nervous and desparately want the job and dont want to make it all about "Oh look I'm a tranny!" What would girls suggest re. an outfit, shoes and what type of make-up? Thanks so much!

it all depends really, i mean if it's a hip, wild store, you might be able to be open and honest about it and tell them about your cross dressing, but if it's a simple store, i wouldn't, i know people need to respect and accept each other for who they are, but society is different and if you want/need a job, you sometimes have to give in, simple thing with me, back in the days, i started wearing my nose piercing, some jobs don't accept that and ask you to take it out, well these days it's different but still, one job i turned down because of that, but the other i didn't because i needed that job , i needed the money. so you need to balance out what it is you need and want, and if they are open about it, maybe start of slow with your cross dressing, don't put them in total shock right off on your first day ofcourse LOL, i mean start with some makeup, nailpolish, skinny jeans with some flats.

well, good luck with it all, must be tough
Reply:I think you've got just the right idea for an interview outfit. You want to look tidy and professional whenever you interview. Go easy on the make-up. Just something tasteful, no bright colors. Maybe just clear nail varnish rather than a color.

I'm sure you understand already that some people in this world are going to judge you, and there's nothing you can do about that. The completely "safe" way out is to dress like a guy, of course. But if you're brave enough to be yourself, you can be confident that you're being completely appropriate if you dress conservatively and professionally, as anyone would for a job interview.

It's wise to spend a lot of time choosing your outfit, so that you're sure you're wearing something you're comfortable with. No one, regardless of who they are, wants to do a job interview in clothes they're not comfortable in. The interview isn't ultimately about your clothes, it's about your ability to do a good job. So choose something you like and then try to *forget* your outfit...so you can focus on doing a good job in the interview. Good luck!
Reply:I would go for nice, natural make-up, not to much. Just some eye liner and mascara, with a bit of blush and/or bronzer. Also I think nice plain, black, bootleg pants and a cute top would be fine. Like a tight sweater or something. Nothing crazy girly but something still feminine that shows off curves. And a nice pair of ballet flats sound perfect.
