Why do women's feet hurt when they wear high-heeled shoes?

What parts of the foot exactly hurt (women) when high-heeled shoes are worn?

Why do women's feet hurt when they wear high-heeled shoes?
Depends on the shoe, but the ball of the foot hurts, they feel hot and start to tingle.

I have gel inserts that are supposed to alleviate that, I also got some gel inserts that are supposed to put the weight on the heel instead. Both of these kinds eventually peeled off :P bad adhesive. I got some foam inserts to make the shoes fit better and they stayed stuck. I want more of those...

Anyway lower heels are less pain, but boys like them higher.
Reply:well when I wear them too long it makes my toes hurt. It puts all your weight on your toes... try walking on the tips of your toes for a while, you will see what I mean! =)
Reply:because beauty is pain.
Reply:I believe its about the arch of the foot being extended.

Which is why its important to train the foot/arches when wearing high heels.

Start with a lower heel and wear it for a while until you can go a few hours without any problems.

Then move up a half inch and try a higher heel.

I would start with something like 2 or 2 1/2 inches.

Give it a week or two before moving up to a higher heel.

When you reach 3 inches, practice just standing. It's easier to maintain your balance walking (if done properly- heel, then toe) than standing.

In a higher heel, such as 3 inch, also be sure to train your foot more than a week.

The real key is to wear the heels, then after 20-60 minutes, switch back to flats or sneakers.

By doing this you are elongating the muscle, or stretching.

This kind of training can take weeks to be effective. And that just to become comfortable with a 3 inch heel.

Results will vary for different people.

Hope that helps!!
